Sofía joined the Steer team in 2008 after working for a couple of years at another transportation consultancy. She currently serves as an Associate Director supporting our global infrastructure team, with an emphasis on projects in North America.
With over 17 years of experience in consulting for both public and private sectors, Sofía has worked across various transportation sectors, including public transit, highways, and railways. She also provides advice on urban planning-related projects, among others.
Sofía holds a degree in civil engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and a master’s degree in transportation engineering from the University of Berkeley in California.
Throughout her career, Sofía has held roles as a modeler, manager, peer reviewer, and project director in more than 130 studies across different geographies, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, and other Latin American countries. Her work primarily involves demand and revenue forecasting for infrastructure transactions. She has been involved in projects ranging from conceptual advice to assisting private clients in presenting unsolicited proposals to the Latin American governments, renegotiating concession contracts, issuing stock certificates on the Mexican Stock Exchange, and refinancing highway assets for both public and private sectors.
