New Tactran website assists travel choices in Scotland

Steer Davies Gleave has created a new travel information website for Tayside and Central Scotland Transport Partnership (Tactran).

Launched on May 20th 2010, the web portal provides comprehensive travel information, to help residents, business travellers, commuters and visitors to the Tactran region make the right travel choices. Finding accurate train times, traffic reports, lift-sharing and cycle and bus routes are some of the services that Tactranconnect has to offer. The aim has been to have a 'one stop shop' where people can quickly and simply check out their travel options for all forms of travel - bus, rail, walk, cycle, car, air, motorcycle and taxi. Councillor Will Dawson, Tactran's chair, said: "Often a lack of information prevents people from travelling in the way they'd like. We have to provide the kind of comprehensive information that will help them make the right choices - and that is what the new website does.”

Steer Davies Gleave’s Design and Communications team utilised their experience in web design and software applications to create the site, which provides a wider outlook on travel than the local websites available, particularly with longer journeys. Project manager Craig Nelson said “the new Tactran website is a first for Scotland in that it provides a valuable regional travel portal that draws upon existing web-based information. It also marks a successful collaboration with Traveline Scotland to provide regionally focused journey planning.”
