PR-22/PR-5 concession project wins Americas Deal of the Year

The PR-22/PR-5 concession project in Puerto Rico has recently won PFI magazine’s 2011 Americas Deal of the Year and Steer Davies Gleave was the traffic and revenue advisor to the successful consortium of Abertis and Goldman Sachs.

PFI magazine said: “The loan financing for the toll road concession of Puerto Rico highways PR-22 and PR-5 was the most significant traffic-based infrastructure project to be successfully financed in North America since the financial crisis”.

Steer Davies Gleave reviewed traffic patterns over the 40-year history of the toll road and then prepared traffic and revenue forecasts for the consortium. This work included an assessment of a combined Bus Rapid Transit and Dynamic Toll Lane.

This is the second year is a row that Steer Davies Gleave is the transport consultant for the “Deal of the Year” concession in the Americas; last year’s Ruta del Sol in Colombia received the same award.

PFI (Project Finance International) magazine is a leading publication in the finance and infrastructure industry.
