In such turbulent times, practical examples of how these challenges have been overcome in the ZEV sector can provide insight to other industries on developing actionable plans to deliver Net Zero.
The challenge debated and answered in this webinar is whether access for disadvantaged communities to new vehicles, services and technologies can be financed using current strategies.
The need for existing structures such as airports, campuses or hospitals to adapt to include ZEV infrastructure has presented as both an operational and a technological challenge. Our speakers have looked to solve these problems creatively and commercially and share their experiences and lessons learned.
We commenced the week by asking the fundamental question of whether pragmatic compromises are key to delivering Net Zero and whether we should be pushing ourselves to think outside the box. Our speakers Gloria Hutt and Jane Stevensen were joined by over 150 people to discuss whether Net Zero can be achieved without a radical overhaul of global behaviours.

A keen proponent of sustainable transport approaches, she has significant experience across policy, planning and implementation, providing real-life experience of the opportunities and challenges governments and local authorities face.

Jane is an expert on the implementation of TCFD and other ESG-related reporting frameworks and has advised the UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative and the UK Green Finance Initiative. She previously supported the TCFD secretariat and corporate members in the development of the framework.

Are our Net Zero ambitions getting in the way of investments?
Our second session in this Movement Matters Net Zero series focused on the question of whether our Net Zero ambitions are getting in the way of investments. Lauren Pamma of the Green Finance Institute examined how private finance can contribute to public policy goals, the emerging global experience of bringing ZEVs and infrastructure into service, and what it means for future success. Lauren was joined by Christian Velasco of AMP Capital, Luis Andres Alandia of Proparco and Daniel Pulido of the International Finance Corporation.

Christian joined AMP Capital's Infrastructure Equity team in 2018 and is responsible for the origination, execution and asset management of assets across the LatAm region, as well as providing global coverage in structuring acquisition financings and refinancings for AMP Capital's Global Infrastructure Fund.
Luis Andres Alandia, Senior Investment Officer, Proparco, France
Luis Andres is a Senior Investment Officer at Proparco and oversees debt investments for urban mobility projects worldwide, including leading the financing of two landmark e-mobility transactions in 2021. Previously at IFC and BNP Paribas, Luis Andres holds a Masters’ Degree from SciencesPo Paris.
Lauren Pamma, Programme Director of the Coalition for the Decarbonisation of Road Transport, The Green Finance Institute
Lauren had a 16-year financial career at Lloyds Banking Group, holding a number of finance, strategy and commercial roles. Before joining the GFI she led the electrification agenda for Lex Autolease, identifying ways to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles.
In our third webinar of the Movement Matters Net Zero: Making It Happen series, Alia Verloes, Steer's North American New Mobility Market Lead, guided the discussion on challenges and levers of action for achieving adoption of cleaner transportation modes; from a local, regional and state perspective with a focus on the needs of disadvantaged communities.

Bree is an Air Pollution Specialist in CARB’s Sustainable Transportation and Communities Division. Lead on the Sustainable Transportation Equity Project grant programme, Bree previously worked on the CivicSpark AmeriCorps program under CivicWell. Bree graduated with an Anthropology degree from Washington University in St. Louis.

President of Lane Transit District’s Board and Startup Community Director for Onward Eugene, Caitlin is also on the American Public Transportation Association Board, along with top transit professionals from across the USA. In 2018, Caitlin was recognized as one of Oregon’s “20 Under 40” for her civic involvement.
Michelle Go, Principal Planner, Shared Mobility, Metropolitan Transportation Commission, San Francisco Bay Area, USA
Michelle plans and delivers projects that improve travel options, spanning transit, parking, operational, and transportation demand management strategies. She currently focuses on developing and managing shared mobility pilot programs to incentivize bike commuting and supporting employers with commute platforms to reduce drive alone rates.
Alia Verloes, North American New Mobility Market Lead, Steer
Alia leads the US New Mobility team, exploring the potential and impact of disruptive transportation technologies in cities. Alia’s work covers a range of new mobility services — micromobility, ridesharing and on-demand services – along with implementation of ZEVs and automation in the context of shared use business models.
In the final webinar of our Net Zero: Making it Happen series, industry experts Ivar Satero, Katherine Ward, and Alessio Tizzanini shared insights on the current challenges of using technology to reduce carbon emissions in their respective fields of airport operation, rolling stock leasing and electric bus provision.
